Kgosi Leruo Tshekedi Molotlegi is the 36th King of the Royal Bafokeng Nation. Molotlegi has served as King since 2000, when he succeeded his brother, Kgosi Mollwane Molotlegi.

According to oral tradition, when the Bafokeng or “people of the dew” first settled in 1450, the valley in which they did so experienced heavy overnight dew, holding the promise that the land would be fertile and that, in turn, the community would prosper. Some 160 000 people currently prosper in the Rustenburg valley, which contains one of the largest deposits of Platinum in the world.

The King is a former member of the board of Impala Platimum Holdings (Implats). Kgosi sits in the newly established Royal Bafokeng Resources (RBR) as a non-Executive Director.

RBR is a wholly owned Bafokeng company.

Kgosi is also the President of the Mineral Rights Association of Indigenous People of South Africa and was one of the principal negotiators in the new mining legislation, which seeks to encourage significant black participation.

Kgosi is an alumnus of Hilton College in Natal, South Africa.

He holds a university degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from Natal University.
