HCI launches directory for supplier growth in South Africa

The HCI Supplier Club, created to provide support and benefits to qualifying small, medium and micro enterprises who are suppliers or potential suppliers to the diverse HCI Group and its subsidiaries, has launched its first directory featuring of a wide range of small businesses that supply HCI companies.

Lael Bethlehem, Investment Executive at HCI, says, “The aim of the HCI Supplier Club Directory is to draw attention to these suppliers and help them find new customers. They are already succeeding in supplying HCI companies – there is every reason to believe that they could successfully supply other customers as well.”

The directory showcases 55 small businesses from eight provinces in a range of sectors that include business support, events and décor, food and beverage, furniture, health and beauty, jewellery and crafts, media and marketing, people management, and property and maintenance. The companies all have strong track records in their fields, most are black-owned, and many are start-ups. Bethlehem adds, “These businesses are making a contribution to job creation, skills development, and growth in our economy, and it has been inspiring to witness the effort, skill, and creativity that they have displayed to achieve success.”

Johnny Copelyn, CEO of HCI, says, “I have been impressed by the number of small businesses that are successfully providing services in the value chain of HCI and our Group companies. We would like to nurture these companies and help them grow to the next level.”

The HCI Supplier Club, which has been operating since 2015, was created to strengthen the prospects for the small businesses who are members, and expose them to further opportunities for growth. It provides a range of benefits that include regular events where members can showcase their products and services to other HCI companies; supplier development events; newsletters and databases; discounts through various HCI companies, including Tsogo Sun hotels; marketing opportunities; and more.

The 2019 HCI Supplier Club Directory is being distributed to HCI subsidiaries and their key stakeholders, to Club members for their own publicity purposes, and it is being published online.
