Dr Anna Mokgokong, born in Soweto and raised in Swaziland, is a South African businesswoman who has received international acclaim for her entrepreneurial ability.
Mokgokong is a former President of the South African Women Entrepreneurs Network (SAWEN) and the International Women’s Forum of South Africa (IWFSA).
Mokgokong is a much sought-after public speaker with a keen interest in community development and women empowerment. She was inducted into the leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World, an independent, international network of the world’s powerful and successful female entrepreneurs in 1998.
Mokgokong is the recipient of the prestigious SA Businesswoman of the Year Award 1999.
She used her medical training as a springboard into business, however, her scope of influence spans different industries. She sits on numerous boards of listed and unlisted companies locally and internationally.
She is one of the founder members and Group Executive Chairperson of Community Investment Holdings, a leading black empowerment company.
Mokgokong has also served in academia and the public sector, having chaired the Council of the University of South Africa and served on the Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers, where she was the Deputy Chairperson.
She was appointed to serve as a member of the Interim Defence Force Commission. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree (University of Botswana), an MBChB (Medunsa) and a Doctorate Honoris Causa Commerce (UNISA).
