Amazon Web Services launches second CloudFront edge in South Africa

Amazon Web Services (AWS), today, 12 July 2018, announced the launch of a new Amazon CloudFront edge location in Cape Town, South Africa.

Amazon CloudFront is a global content delivery network (CDN) service that delivers data, videos, applications and APIs to viewers with low latency and high transfer speeds.

“We have been using CloudFront to deliver our applications to farmers all over the world. Given that we typically serve data in the order of gigabyes, CloudFront has enabled us to role this out efficiently and quickly. Serving a lot of customers in South Africa, the new launch means that our local client base will be able to access their farm data even faster than before,” said Benji Meltzer, Aerobotics Chief Technology Officer.
