Arthur Yao, Allianz Africa Chief Underwriting and Reinsurance Officer

Allianz Africa Financial Services, Allianz Group’s Regional Company on the continent, has appointed Arthur Yao as Chief Underwriting and Reinsurance Officer effective 1 September 2018.

Yao, will drive and direct underwriting and reinsurance strategies across all lines of business in the region and will be based in Abidjan,Côte d’Ivoire.

He will report to Delphine Maïdou, Chief Operations Officer (COO), Allianz Africa and Olaf Novak, Managing Director Reinsurance, Allianz Re.

Yao has over 14 years of insurance and reinsurance experience gained in Europe and Africa across a variety technical and leadership roles. His educational qualifications include amongst others actuarial insurance and business administration from the National Polytechnic Institute of Yamoussoukro in Côte d’Ivoire.

“I warmly welcome Mr Yao to Allianz Africa and firmly believe that he will enable us to consolidate our image as a leading insurer in the region. His appointment demonstrates Allianz’s commitment to talent development and growth in Africa,” says Delphine Maïdou.

Equally, we believe he will aid us in protecting our clients against financial losses, support them in meeting regulatory requirements and contribute to keeping them competitive,” explains Olaf Novak.
