Power sector stakeholders from across Africa and abroad will converge at the Sandton Convention Centre this month, for the annual POWER-GEN & DistribuTECH Africa 2017 expo and conference.
Focused on delivering end to end power technology and knowledge, the co-located events traditionally attract around 3000 attendees from governments, utilities, power producers, academia, consulting and power industry professionals, engineers and representatives of affiliated private enterprises.
Offering free access to the exhibition floor, POWER-GEN & DistribuTECH Africa 2017 will showcase leading- edge power generation and distribution technologies and solutions; and support networking and lead generation through a B2B Matchmaking service for exhibitors and show visitors. Highlights on the exhibition floor will include a formalised Gen-X Theatre providing a unique platform for young engineers and power sector professionals to share their insights with industry players; while the Eskom Workshop Forum will offer presentations and case studies by the utility’s leading experts.
As part of the networking opportunities, the conference and expo offer attendees a rare opportunity to engage with over 40 sub-Saharan power sector leaders who are brought to the event as part of the POWER-GEN & DistribuTECH Africa 2017 SSA VIP programme.
Delegates to the conference benefit from high-level presentations, papers and case studies across five tracks during the three days of the event, with the day one keynote to be delivered by South Africa’s Minister of Public Enterprises, Lynne Brown. Among the key topic focus areas are finance and investment, the digital technology revolution in power plant technology, decentralised energy solutions, models for industry sustainability, asset performance management, opportunities in renewable technologies, solar energy, bioenergies, trends in utility management, nuclear programmes and a progress report on visions for Africa’s energy future.
POWER-GEN & DistribuTECH Africa has also been awarded a pre-validation by the SAIEE of 2.5 CPD credits.
POWER-GEN & DistribuTECH Africa 2017’s popular technical site tour will take delegates on a guided visit to the Eskom Kusile Power Station Project on Monday 17 July. Eskom’s new Kusile Power Station, near Emalahleni in Mpumalanga, is South Africa’s largest multibillion-rand construction project and, when completed, will be the fourth-largest coal-fired plant in the world.
