Michelle David, director and accomplished pension lawyer at Norton Rose Fulbright, has been elected national president of the Pension Lawyers Association (PLA) from 1 June 2014.
The PLA is an organisation of more than 150 lawyers who focus on providing support and guidance to trustees, principal officers of pension funds and legal practitioners on retirement fund and employee benefits law. The association plays an important role in raising awareness and understanding of the law relating to retirement funding.
Patrick Bracher, head of the insurance regulatory division at Norton Rose Fulbright South Africa comments, “Michelle has been a great asset to our practice and we congratulate her on her well-earned appointment and her willingness to offer her considerable skills for the public good.”
“I am delighted at this appointment. My mandate for this coming year is to give more input to pension reforms, assist in the transformation initiatives in the pensions sector, up-skill lawyers and provide legal understanding and support to trustees and principal officers,” says David.
David has been a member of the PLA since 2006 and member of the executive since 2010.
David also sits on the Financial Services Board Treating Customers Fairly subcommittee.
