Lumkile Mondi, Industrial Development Corporation Chief Economist

Lumkile Mondi, serves as the Chief Economist and Executive Vice President of Professional Services at The Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa (IDC).

Mondi served as Vice President at the Industrial Development Corporation. He served as the Deputy Treasurer at Transnet.

Mondi spent seven years at Transnet, two years of which he was a Treasury Manager in the Group Finance Department.
Mondi was also the Group Economist at Transnet from 1996 to 2001.

Prior to this, he worked for Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group as a Development and Financial Economics Consultant, providing solutions to both private and public sector clients.

Mondi has knowledge of treasury and financial markets gained at Standard Corporate and Merchant Bank, where he worked as a Treasury Economist in the interest rate derivative desk.

Mondi serves as a Non-Executive Director at Yard Capital.

Mondi has been a Non-Executive Director of ArcelorMittal South Africa since May 2007.

For more than five years,Mondi was involved in the Transnet Pension Fund as a Trustee and served in the Investment and the Administration Benefit Committees of the fund.

Mondi is involved in the Trade and Industry Policy Secretariat and is a Member of the Association of Black Securities and Investment Professionals.

Mondi holds an MA in Economics from Illinois, BCom in Economics from the University of the Witwatersrand and BCom in Advanced Corporate Finance and Value Creation.

Mondi completed Advanced Management Programme from INSEAD.
