Khehla Shubane

Khehla Shubane, RMB Holdings Non-executive Director

Khehla Shubane served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nelson Mandela Foundation.

Shubane was employed at the Business Map Foundation, a monitoring and research organisation focusing on black economic empowerment (BEE).

He has been an Independent Non-executive Director of RMB Holdings Ltd, since November 25, 1993.

He has been an Independent Non-Executive Director at Rand Merchant Investment Holdings Limited since December 2010. 

Shubane serves as a Director of FirstRand Bank Holdings Limited. He has been an Independent & Non-Executive Director of MMI Holdings Limited since 2010.

He serves as a Director of FCB South Africa, Newhco and Nurcha. He serves as Director of Endress & Hausser, Sangonet, Johannesburg Roads Agency and Nurcha.

He served as a Member of International Advisory Board at Council on Foreign Relations, Inc.

He served as a Director of FirstRand Ltd from May 1998 to July 2010.

He was a director of Simeka Financial Services and a Director at the Centre for Policy Studies.

He served at Liberty Life for a short tenure.

He served on various political organizations until joining the Centre for Political Studies in 1988.

He was a member of the Soweto civic association, a body that represented the local community in opposition to the then official local government institutions.

His recent work has focused on the role of local and provincial governments in the new South Africa.

He co-chaired the Local Government Elections Task Group that oversaw South Africa’s first inclusive local elections in 1995.

He is an Independent Policy Analyst and Consultant.

He is an author and has co-authored several political publications.

Shubane graduated at the University of the Witwatersrand.
