Kaya FM appoints Mediamark to drive advertising sales

Kaya FM, the largest independent commercial regional station in Gauteng, has appointed Mediamark to help it drive advertising sales and maximise revenues across its multimedia platforms, effective 1 March 2016.

Mediamark expects Kaya to be its largest revenue generator by 2020.

Mediamark will work with Kaya FM to grow its presence across radio, digital as well as through events and sponsorships.

It will support Kaya FM’s ambition to grow its multimedia reach and forge partnerships with advertisers that are interested in creating meaningful connections with its deeply engaged audience.

Mediamark represents the largest portfolio of commercial regional radio brands in South Africa with nationwide exposure. Kaya FM joins powerful radio stations East Coast Radio, Gagasi FM, Heart FM, Jacaranda FM and Smile 90.4FM in the Mediamark fold.

“With over 1,5 million loyal and discerning middle to upper class Afropolitan listeners, Kaya FM is one of the most influential radio broadcasters in South Africa. We are truly honoured by the opportunity to partner with Kaya FM in growing its multimedia presence, maximising its revenues, and showcasing the value of its Afropolitan market,” says Talib Sadik, Mediamark Managing Director.

“Mediamark was recently voted the best radio sales house at the 2015 MOST Awards, an award our team has won 6 times since its inception and with a footprint of premier radio brands broadcasting in the key geographic provinces of the country, we believe that we can present attractive, win-win sales propositions to advertisers and enable them to maximise their ROI. Together with Kaya, we are able to reach 80% of South Africans, in provinces that account for 85% of South Africa’s GDP.”

Kaya FM has chosen Mediamark as its sales house because it believes the company has the systems, processes, management team and experience to provide for and sustain the immediate and future sales requirements of its brand.

“Kaya FM’s Afropolitan market is the consuming class of SA, accounting for a significant part of the R400 billion purchasing power of South Africa’s black people,” says Greg Maloka, Kaya FM Managing Director.

“Mediamark has an unmatched depth of talent across front- and back-office functions, and is leading the market in a transition from single medium sales to integrated, multichannel media and marketing solutions. It is the perfect partner to help us position our business in the changing media landscape and enhance our winning brand, not just on radio, but also across other platforms.”
