Gijima, a JSE-listed ICT company, has named Maphumuzana Maphum Nxumalo as its new Chief Operating Officer and an executive director effective 1 July 2014 and Bheki Khumalo as its new Human Resources Executive.
Nxumalo has 37 years’ corporate experience, at first in the mining and retail industries, and then in ICT companies. He joins Gijima from T-Systems, where he held the position of Vice President: Systems Integration for nine months, before assuming responsibilities for Strategic Business Development (SBD) as Vice President for the last 12 months. Nxumalo has also held several executive directorships, including Unisys (2000 – 2003), National Research Foundation (2001 – 2006), Sybase SA (1998 – 2000), Face Technologies (2000 – 2001) and Ariel Technologies (2000 – 2001). Maphum was also the COO of SAP Africa and the CEO of SAS Institute in Africa before joining T-Systems.
Khumalo has a distinguished academic record and holds four degrees, including an LLB from the University of South Africa and an MA (Clinical Psychology) from the University of Natal. He has over 17 years of experience in a wide variety of roles, having started out as a clinical psychologist and consultant at SMA Consultants. In the last few years Bheki has served as a director of Great Basin Gold, Southgold Exploration and Puma Gold. Bheki has also served as an executive director of Hillside Aluminium and Billiton Aluminium, and as a member of the Professional Board of Psychology (South Africa) and the Mental Health Review Board.
